A letter from Hailey Arrow
The maker
Hi, I’m Hailey Arrow.
I learned to work with clay sitting beside my grandmother. She used to say the clay remembers the hands that shape it. I didn’t really understand what she meant until I started sculpting these myself.
Each piece is the face of a Native woman — calm, strong, present. I sculpt every one by hand and paint the detailing myself, then set a place in her hand for a single stick of incense, so the smoke rises like a slow, quiet breath through your home.
No two are exactly alike, because no two people are. Every piece leaves my studio with care. I take my time. Each one matters to me.
Thank you for being here. Whatever corner of your home she ends up in, I’m honored to make her for you.
Never mass produced. Never outsourced.
Since 2024 I’ve hand-sculpted over 1,000 pieces that now sit in homes around the world — each one shaped and painted by these hands.

What are the different designs?
What are the different designs?
Each piece is the face of a Native woman, hand-sculpted in natural terracotta clay with hand-painted detailing and a sculpted hand that holds a single incense stick. There are four designs at launch: Sky Feather (long hair, side feather, painted rays), River Stone (flowing hair, turquoise bead necklace), Desert Silver (wrapped bun, turquoise squash-blossom necklace), and Prairie Bloom (braids, beaded headband). Each one is its own character — no two are exactly alike.
How long does it take to receive my piece?
How long does it take to receive my piece?
Every piece is handmade to order, and I take great pride in making sure you receive the highest possible quality.
Because each one is individually sculpted and not mass-produced, your order goes through a thoughtful production process. After you order, there’s an estimated 2-3 week preparation period before sculpting begins — sourcing natural clay, prepping the form, and getting my studio ready for your piece.
The sculpting, curing and hand-painting takes roughly 2 weeks, since every feature and painted detail is done by hand.
Once it’s finished and fully set, your order is securely packaged and shipped. Delivery typically takes 7-14 business days, depending on your location.
I appreciate your patience — this timeline is what lets me keep true handmade quality instead of mass production. Every piece is made with care, attention to detail, and the goal of giving you something meaningful that lasts.
How do I use it as an incense burner?
How do I use it as an incense burner?
It works with standard incense sticks. Place a stick into the sculpted hand, light the tip, and the smoke drifts up and curls past her face. The base catches falling ash — just empty and wipe it now and then. She works beautifully as a centerpiece on a shelf, entry table, altar, or meditation corner, and she looks just as good unlit as a sculpture.
Is it really handmade?
Is it really handmade?
Yes. Every piece is sculpted and hand-painted by me in small batches — never mass-produced, never outsourced, never a printed mold knockoff. Because each one is shaped by hand, you’ll see small, natural variations from piece to piece. That’s the mark of something truly handmade, and it means your piece is genuinely one of a kind.
What is it made of and how do I care for it?
What is it made of and how do I care for it?
Each piece is sculpted from natural terracotta clay and finished with a sealed glaze for durability and a soft sheen. Care is simple: dust with a dry, soft cloth, and wipe gently with a slightly damp cloth if needed. Keep the ash dish clean and let any moisture dry fully. It’s made for indoor decorative use — with normal care it’s built to last for years.
What if I don’t love it?
What if I don’t love it?
I offer a 60-day satisfaction guarantee on every order, no questions asked. If your piece doesn’t feel right when it arrives — for any reason — reach out and I’ll make it right with a replacement or full refund. There’s also a lifetime craftsmanship warranty: if your burner ever chips or cracks under normal use, I’ll repair or replace it. No fine print.
How is this different from burners on Amazon or Etsy?
How is this different from burners on Amazon or Etsy?
Most figure incense burners on big marketplaces are mass-produced resin pieces poured from the same mold by the thousand. Mine is the opposite. Every piece is sculpted in clay and painted by hand in my home studio, in small batches. You feel the difference the moment you pick it up — the weight, the texture, the brushwork, the little details that only a real pair of hands leaves behind.
I want to gift this. Do you offer gift packaging or notes?
I want to gift this. Do you offer gift packaging or notes?
Every piece arrives in a cream gift box with tissue and a ribbon, ready to give. You can add a free handwritten note from you at checkout (up to 100 words). If you’d like to ship directly to the recipient, you’ll get the digital order confirmation and tracking while the package goes to them. Housewarmings, birthdays, new beginnings — I’m honored to be part of those moments.
